MFA lowers the environmental footprint of mining by processing existing fines and tailings instead of extracting new ore, avoiding energy-intensive stages such as drilling, blasting and primary benefaction. Stabilising legacy waste also reduces oxidation risk and long term tailings liabilities. Site level benefits can be significant depending on mine type and scale.
